Punjab Youth Leaders Program (PYLP)
PYLP is a two-year full time leadership development program. It brings together individuals who have shown exceptional leadership potential. During these two years, the fellows work towards improving the learning and governance in the government primary schools. In the process, they grow by building their own leadership values and competencies. The aim of the program is to create a strong cadre of future leaders who are committed to transform Punjab into a land of Hope, Courage and Possibilities in the next 30 years.
Leadership at PYLP
At PYLP, we see leadership as the ability to organise people and mobilise resources for a cause you believe in. Over the course of the fellowship, a structured leadership program will enable the fellow to develop these competencies through intensive weekly and monthly sessions and real-life experiences on the ground. Besides implementing the cluster transformation process, we strongly encourage YLs to explore their potential by taking on short-term projects. This is another practice ground for the fellows to apply what they have learnt and honing their natural talents. Programs like Purpose Discovery, Rural Development, and Punjab Yatra help them build their understanding of the ground realities and prepare them for long-term involvement in social development and community service beyond PYLP.

Punjab Youth Leaders Program (PYLP) is a two-year fellowship program designed to bring together youth changemakers to drive a shift in Punjab’s education system. Its purpose is to foster a lifelong community of changemakers. A PYLP fellow will drive systemic change from the ground level in the public education system of Punjab.

2. Do I need to be a resident of Punjab in order to apply for the Program?
ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਲਈ ਐਪਲੀਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਕੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਬਣਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ ਹੈ?
Not necessarily, you can be from any part of the world. The only condition to apply is that you must be willing to relocate to Punjab for the 2 year period of the fellowship.ਨਹੀਂ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਤੋਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ। ਐਪਲੀਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਇਕੋ ਸ਼ਰਤ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਚ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
3. When will the Program commence?
ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਕਦੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ?
The Program will commence from the first week of July 2025.
ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਜੁਲਾਈ 2025 ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਹਫ਼ਤੇ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
4. Whom are we looking for?
ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਸ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ?
PYLP is looking for young and dynamic individuals, below the age of 30 years (as of May 1, 2025), with at least a Bachelor’s degree in any field. Candidates with work experience especially in the field of education will be preferred.
Note: Candidates without work experience, possessing a Bachelor’s degree, and a passion to work towards transforming the education system of Punjab should apply without hesitation.

5. What will PYLP fellows do?
ਪੀ.ਵਾਈ.ਐੱਲ.ਪੀ. ਯੰਗ ਲੀਡਰਸ ਕੀ ਕਰਨਗੇ?
A Punjab Youth Leader will work with clusters of government schools, an area within a district of Punjab which comprises 10-15 schools. He/she will be bringing together all the major stakeholders of the schools – teachers, parents, Panchayats and local officials – and make them part of the journey in the transformation of schools. In this process, he/she will acquire essential leadership skills, such as organizing people and resources, and form a life-long support community with others based on shared experience on the ground.

6. Do I need to have any social sector experience to apply?

No, social sector experience is not mandatory. However, a deep interest in or social conscience about current social issues will be an added advantage. We are inviting people who have a passion for social change.

7. How long is the commitment to the Program?
ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਲਈ ਵਚਨਬੱਧਤਾ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਦੇਰ ਹੈ?
The fellows will be working six days a week over a period of two years.
ਸਾਥੀ ਹਫ਼ਤੇ ਵਿਚ ਛੇ ਦਿਨ ਕੰਮ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕੰਮ ਕਰੇਗਾ ।
8. Is it a paid Program?
ਕੀ ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਅਦਾਇਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਹੈ?
Yes, each fellow will be supported with a monthly stipend of INR 20,000 (Inc. ESI, EPF, Professional Tax, etc.).

9.Do I need to know how to read, write and speak Punjabi?
ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੇਸ਼ੇਵਰ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਦਦ ਕਰੇਗਾ?
Knowing the Punjabi language will be an asset as the fellow will be working closely with grass root stakeholders, however, it is not a limiting factor for considering your application.

PYLP fellows will gain exposure to global best practices and real-world challenges in the social sector. The fellow will also build a strong professional network as a changemaker in education, along with the opportunity to work with bureaucrats of their respective districts.
The fellows will also develop leadership skills while working on projects that bring tangible change in education. They will cultivate empathy, resilience, and adaptability through grassroots work and gain a sense of purpose through mentorship and community exposure.

11. Can I study along with the Program?
ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਟੱਡੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ?
This is a two-year full-time commitment and thereby doesn’t allow any other course, employment and coaching to be pursued.

12. Will this be a research position?
ਕੀ ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਖੋਜ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ?
This is not a research position. The fellow will be exposed to a lot of issues in Punjab and if desired, he/she can write a research paper on any of the issues. Exceptional papers will be given full assistance to get them published in leading national and international journals.

13. What will be the accommodation arrangement for the fellows?
ਫੈਲੋ ਲਈ ਰਿਹਾਇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਕੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ?
The fellows will be given assistance to find accommodation around the allotted clusters.
ਫੈਲੋ ਨੂੰ ਅਲਾਟ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਲੱਸਟਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਲੇ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਰਿਹਾਇਸ਼ ਲੱਭਣ ਲਈ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ।
14. What other support can the organisation give?
ਫੈਲੋ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਹੜਗੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ?
The fellows will also be given some support in the form of a loan for arranging a laptop and 2 wheeler vehicle. However, it is preferred if the fellows can bring their own laptop and 2 wheeler. Repayment of loan and maintenance will be the responsibility of the fellow. Laptop and 2 wheeler are essential for a smooth fellowship experience.

15. What is the deadline for the application?

The deadline for the application is April 6th, 2025 (11:59 PM IST). Beyond this, we will not be able to accept any more applications.

16. Can I save my application?

17. In spite of filling the form completely and correctly, I have not received any acknowledgment email?

18. I am facing a challenge in uploading the video.
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਅਪਲੋਡ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਮੱਸਿਆ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
The video can be easily recorded through any phone and can be uploaded directly on the form. Steps to upload the video is as under:
Record your video on your device.
Save the video on your google drive.
Check sharing settings to make sure the video can be viewed by “Anyone with the link”.
Open PYLP Application Form and add the link of the video file in the box and click on the ‘Submit’ button once you have completed the form.

On submitting the online application form, applicants will be shortlisted as per the eligibility criteria and their alignment with the Program.
Shortlisted applicants will have to complete a pre-work, the details of which will be communicated separately through email and/or phone.
Upon evaluation of the pre-work, shortlisted applicants will be invited for group activities and interviews.
