Student Learning Status Report 2024–25
This report presents an overview of language (Punjabi) and numeracy learning levels among 3,446 students from 185 government schools across four districts of Punjab. The study is part of a longitudinal assessment conducted by Sanjhi Sikhiya Foundation, with data collected at two points in time—Baseline (September 2024) and Midline (May 2025).
Schools were selected using Probability Proportional to Size (PPS) sampling, and students were chosen through systematic random sampling within each school to ensure balanced and representative coverage across grades. Student competencies were assessed using the ASER tool, focusing on foundational reading and numeracy skills along with application-based tasks such as story comprehension and two-digit subtraction. The findings describe the current status of learning outcomes across grades, showing grade-wise distribution of students from beginner to higher competency levels in both language and numeracy. While progression is visible as students move to higher grades, a notable proportion of learners continue to remain below grade-level expectations, particularly in higher-order skills such as comprehension and problem-solving. This report therefore provides a snapshot of where students stand in their learning journey across the four districts, serving as a reference point for understanding learning levels over time.
